Ye (f/k/a Kanye West) – Renaissance Man

Kanye West is one of the most influential artists in the world and he has been making headlines for years. He is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer and entrepreneur. He has produced songs for artists including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.  He started his music career as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records and then became the label’s best-selling artist.  

West was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. His father was an African American professor of English at Clark Atlanta University and his mother a professor of English at Chicago State University. He grew up in Chicago and was raised by both parents until their divorce when he was around three years old. His mother Donda West then moved him to Chicago with her where she became a professor of English at Chicago State University.

He attended Polaris High School in suburban Oak Lawn and later attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago where he studied English. He met producer No I.D., who became one of his mentors and helped him get into producing music himself. Eventually, he dropped out to pursue a career as a rapper.

Kanye’s father died from complications related to diabetes when Kanye was three years old. His mother Donda West died from complications related to surgery for breast cancer on November 10th 2007 after being diagnosed with cancer three years earlier (2005).

On the personal side, his story would not be complete without mention of his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.  West’s marriage to Kim Kardashian made them one of Hollywood’s most high-profile celebrity couples and it led to them having three children together. The couple faced difficulties in their marriage as they were dealing with issues such as infidelity and financial problems, eventually divorcing.

 

Music Industry Success of Kanye West – From Producer to Rapper

Kanye West is one of the most influential artists of this generation. He has broken boundaries and changed the music industry with his creativity and innovation.
